Our private team is small but mighty! They are very motivated to provide top notch care to our son, so we are seeking a person who will match these high standards.
We are expanding the current team to meet his increasing needs for round the clock care.
Because of the complex nature of his care, this is not a position that you can just start and within a couple of weeks be working alone, the training process will take time so for this reason we are seeking someone who is committed long term and wants to become a long standing valued member of our team.
Day shifts Are 7am-7pm.
Day rate is 14.11
Waking nights rate is 16.92hr.
Waking Night shifts are typically - 22:00 - 07:00 but these can vary to suit our needs, so flexibility is really important.
Hours available are across 7 days/ 7 waking nights a week on a flexible rota basis.
We are looking for very special and dedicated people to join the team.
They will be kind, caring and patient and able to provide the best care to our very special boy at home within the family environment. Once fully trained and competent they will happy work alone or with parents and colleagues.
The role is working as carer/ personal assistant to our 18 year-old son.
He has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and complex health needs associated with this.
This will involve meeting all aspects of his day-to-day personal care and health needs.
managing a complex medication regime.
Mic GJ feeding tube.
Epilepsy and dystonia care and other medical aspects relating to the cerebral palsy.
Accompanying the family on holiday in the uk.
Sometimes the care may be in hospital instead of home, so the ability to travel locally and be flexible is important.
Light household duties relevant to the job.
Keeping relevant records and documentation up to date.
Undertake necessary training and competency updates as required.
*Be able to confidently and clearly communicate to our son, parents and colleagues.
He is typical 18 year-old boy who loves his bed and a good lay in!
He enjoys going out to local places, people watching, cinema, zoos and parks, Cars, motorbikes, animals and being outside, music, cooking, arts and crafts And going on holiday .
He thrives in a calm environment, and with people who are good at listening to his non-verbal communication. He has a dreadful sense of humour and for someone that can't speak, he can be super bossy at times!!
We are looking for people who can embrace all his loves and respect his own needs and that wants to help give him the very best out of life.
They will be calm under pressure, organised and able to work to set timings and a routine.
Willing to undertake training during the day and night, and complete relevant annual competancy training.
Very good at listening to body language and very observant to subtle signs and non-verbal ques . Get to know what is normal for our son and able to quickly recognise subtle changes and respond appropriately or report concerns promptly.
Be imaginative and able to have fun, have a relaxed personality and a great sense of humour (essential for our household!)
Be able to work in a home environment along side his parents and work colleagues and also some overly friendly pets! Must be happy around friendly dogs.
Non-smoker essential.
Full U.K driving licence due to the location and the need to sometimes drive his wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Ability to be flexible to his changing needs and the needs of family and to support the team as a whole.
A full DBS check will be carried out and two references will be required.
Experience of caring for a medically complex child is useful, but not essential as full training can be given in all aspects to the right person with the confidence to learn and a caring, responsible attitude.
