DMM Engineering currently have the following vacancy:-

Afternoon/Evening Shift Hot Forging Operator (2pm-10pm)

In this role, you will be removing hot metal parts from a furnace and feeding them to a large forging press.

Do you enjoy working with your hands to make tangible products, do you have an eye for detail? Put your strengths to work as a Hot Forging operator with our company. You will work as part of a team producing aluminium forgings, in addition to operating machinery, you will learn production based skills. Full training and development will be provided.

KEY TASKS

Confer with other workers about machine setups and operational specifications.

Operate gas/electric furnaces to heat metal to proper temperature prior to forging. Place metal pieces in furnaces, then remove them. Measure and inspect forged parts to ensure conformance to product specifications. Position and move metal wire through a series of dies that compress and shape stock to form die impressions Read work orders or blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.

Job Requirements/skills :

Candidates must:

Factory experience - 1 year. NVQ -level 2 manufacturing related. Be able to read production paperwork in order to understand each job's printed work instructions Demonstrate solid basic math skills and be able to read a ruler and Vernier Must be able to bend, twist, stoop and also lift up to 35 pounds

Manual Dexterity

- have good hand and eye co-ordination. Must be able to tolerate hot work environment

HOURS

37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday

Minimum wage or living wage during 3 month probation period - on completion of a successful probation period, wage will increase to forging rate
