The Falmouth Hotel is one of Cornwall's best located hotels situated opposite Castle Beach with a spectacular view over the Falmouth Bay! The hotel consists of over 71 bedrooms forming different individual styles and views, along with our Castle View Restaurant & Bar, Leisure & Spa Facilities with indoor swimming pool along various events spaces which accommodates meetings, weddings and events.

The hotel is now part of The Cornwall Hotel Collection, a collection that stands at the heart of Cornish hospitality. Comprised of three hotels - The Alverton's historic hillside hideaway, The Greenbank's enchanting waterfront setting, and The Falmouth's iconic Victorian landmark - excellence lies at the heart of all that we do.

As part of our recruitment plans, we are now looking to recruit a Hotel Night Manager on a full-time basis working to the needs of the business, generally 4 nights over 7, working on a 4 on and 4 off basis.

Our Night Managers are a vital cog in the day-to-day running of the hotel. From a warm welcome to our guests on arrival, providing support for the reception team, helping guests with their luggage, delivering room services, assisting our maintenance team and keeping the hotel clean and tidy, each night is different as a Night Manager.

The Night Manager role is a physical job which will require speed, strength and efficiency.

You must have great customer service skills and be able to think on your feet to always ensure we do our best to help our guests.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a positive 'can-do' attitude and the ability to develop good working relationships with staff members.

Night Manager: Duties include, but not limited to -

Security of building & guests Setting up restaurant for breakfast Serving drinks in the bar & glass washing Cleaning all public areas Taking telephone calls & reservation details Must be customer service focused. Preparing for the following day's events within the event spaces. This will include setting tables and tidying/cleaning as well as any guest needs throughout the night in relation to food & beverage services. Ensure good communication with all departments throughout the hotel. Handle, follow up and communicate any relevant occurrences, comments or complaints to the Duty Managers. Be familiar with and promote hotel facilities. Assist guests with any requests e.g. information, making bookings, directions. Ensure that all tasks are completed on each shift and that a full and thorough handover takes place at the end of each shift. Ensure you have a well-rounded understanding of all hotel regulations. Walk all areas of the hotel on a regular basis and report irregularities to relevant department heads. Ensure all access to the hotel is secure, as required by hotel policy and procedure. Perform any related security duties as required overnight. Complete all incident reports and distribute to relevant departments. As a team, ensure that guest areas and offices are always clean and tidy. Ensure that alarm calls are made promptly. Deliver newspapers. Be fully aware of all daily and weekly events in the hotel. Serve guests at the resident night bar ensuring accuracy by checking keys and having guest to sign bill. Report any faulty equipment to the relevant persons. Report for duty punctually in the correct uniform, paying attention to personal hygiene and tidiness. Help to maintain a good working environment within the department and good working relationships with all other departments in the hotel. Give assistance to other departments as and when necessary. Carry out any other reasonable requests made by the on General Manager, Hotel Manager or Front of House Manager. Oversee night porter duties when on shift with a secondary night porter. Be responsible for night health & safety and fire evacuations procedures.
Flexibility on hours required, ideally the role would suit a full-time employee however part time will also be considered. Weekends and seasonal holiday working patterns form part of this role. Salary to be discussed upon background and experience at the interview stage.
