About the Role
As Hotel Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, delivering exceptional service with a warm, welcoming approach. You will be responsible for managing reservations, handle enquiries and support day-to-day operations to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Your Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Customer Service
Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every guest.
Handle all enquiries in person, by phone, and by email with professionalism, confidence, and care.
Promote a positive image of Gretna Green both internally and externally.
Reception & Reservations Management
Manage reservations, cancellations, and no-shows in line with company policy.
Keep the reception diary updated throughout your shift, recording key activities.
Provide accurate information on promotions, rates, and services, maximising sales opportunities.
Operational Excellence
Process payments, manage floats, and complete banking procedures accurately and securely.
Go through wedding information with guests when requested.
Support day-to-day operations to ensure comfort, satisfaction, and safety for all guests.
Comply with health, safety, and data protection policies at all times.
Professional Growth & Teamwork
Take ownership of your professional development through the Performance and Development Review process.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to create a seamless guest experience.

What We're Looking For
Previous experience in a hotel or customer-facing role
Excellent communication and telephone skills
A professional, confident, and approachable attitude
Strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
A proactive team player with a positive, can-do approach
Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays
Knowledge of the local area or the Scottish hospitality market is a plus
