PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


The HR Advisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring that East West Connect's people practices are legally compliant, fair, and aligned with our values. This is a true generalist role, working across employee relations, recruitment, policy, and workforce development. The HR Advisor will translate employment law and HR frameworks into clear, actionable advice for managers, supporting them to lead with confidence and integrity.

This role requires someone who is confident in employment relations, thrives on problem-solving, and can balance risk management with practical, people-first solutions.

Additionally, significant experience in recruiting engineering talent and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and growth-oriented environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Employee Relations & Advisory



Provide timely, accurate advice to managers on a wide range of ER issues (grievance, disciplinary, performance, absence, probation, flexible working, etc.) in line with ACAS guidance and UK employment law. Draft and review documentation (letters, outcomes, case notes, reports) ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance. Support managers to resolve workplace issues early and constructively, with a focus on good employee experience and business outcomes. Escalate complex cases appropriately while retaining ownership of day-to-day management.

Recruitment & Onboarding



Manage end-to-end recruitment for assigned roles: job design, shortlisting, interviewing, and offer management. Support hiring managers in making fair, evidence-based decisions. Ensure inclusive practices are embedded throughout recruitment and onboarding processes.

Policy & Process



Interpret HR policies and legislation into accessible guidance for managers and staff. Keep up to date with changes in employment law and best practice; advise on necessary updates. Contribute to continuous improvement of HR systems, processes, and templates.

Workforce Support & Development



Coach and guide managers on people leadership, supporting them to grow capability and confidence. Work closely with colleagues across London sites to understand local workforce needs and deliver consistent, joined-up HR support. Promote a culture of accountability, wellbeing, and respect.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Essential

Minimum 3 years' experience providing HR advice in a generalist role. CIPD Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience/qualification). Strong, practical knowledge of UK employment law and ACAS best practice. Proven experience managing ER cases from start to finish. Experience leading recruitment processes - end to end Ability to explain complex HR and legal issues in plain, actionable language. Comfortable working onsite and across multiple locations. Strong interpersonal skills, with the credibility to advise managers at all levels. Willingness to go the extra mile to deliver high-quality, timely support.

Desirable

Experience in a multi-site organisation.
