Job Purpose:
To provide a high-quality, proactive HR advisory service to schools across the Isle of Wight, supporting Headteachers, School Business Managers, and senior leaders with a full range of HR issues. This role will carry responsibility for formal casework and contribute to the development and delivery of HR policy and training.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide professional, solution-focused advice and guidance to schools on a broad range of HR matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, and general employee relations.
Manage a personal caseload of formal HR cases, ensuring each is dealt with effectively and in a timely manner.
Act as the first point of contact for schools in relation to HR matters, supporting the consistent application of employment policies and procedures.
Contribute to the design and delivery of training sessions on HR policies, procedures and employment law updates.
Maintain and update HR policies, guidance documents, toolkits, and intranet content to support line managers in applying best practice.
Work collaboratively with Headteachers, Governors, and the wider HR team to provide seamless HR support across the school network.
Stay informed about current developments in employment law and HR best practice, and ensure advice and guidance reflects up-to-date legal compliance.
Person Specification:
Essential:
CIPD Level 7 qualified.
Demonstrable experience in an HR advisory/support role.
Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
Experience managing employee relations casework from start to finish.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build effective relationships with stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
Confident in delivering training and presentations to varied audiences.
Desirable:
Experience of working in a school or education sector environment.
Knowledge of HR systems and digital platforms used in educational settings.
