SALARY:

29,217.79 - 35,514.40 per annum

HOURS:

35 hours per week - Monday - Friday - 8.30 - 4.30 Hybrid / flexible hours

Job Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and driven HR Advisor to join our HR team and play a key role in supporting our mission at Petty Pool. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and purpose-led environment where your HR expertise will have a meaningful impact across the organisation.

As an HR Advisor, you will provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees, ensuring HR policies and practices are consistently applied, legally compliant, and aligned with our values. From supporting employee relations and recruitment to driving wellbeing and L&D initiatives, you'll help shape a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.

This is a fast-paced role, ideal for someone who is solutions-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about enabling people to thrive.

Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality HR advice and guidance directly to managers to facilitate the early resolution of difficult, complex or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring that the risks associated with such cases are effectively managed. Advise and coach managers on the application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures in accordance with current and proposed employment legislation, to ensure consistency, accuracy, and best practice Support the Head of People & Culture in implementing and embedding new strategies and initiatives Assist the management of complex employee cases relating to disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence. This includes providing advice to managers on policy, procedure and legislation and supporting formal investigations and hearings Build good working relationships with managers in order to better understand their needs and provide appropriate HR related support Being the first point of contact for employees and ensure the timely and satisfactory resolution of employee relations issues by maintaining effective relationships Manage sickness absence in collaboration with mangers, assisting staff back to work and working with managers to reduce sickness absence across the college Rewrite, revise, maintain and Implement HR policies and procedures in line with legislation and best practice Lead on recruitment campaigns for all roles within the college Manage the on-boarding process for successful candidates, ensuring all pre-employment checks are completed, sending out offer letter and contracts Manage the life cycle of all employees Run analytical reports from Databridge to support the provision of management information Monitor and support the management team with probation & appraisal reviews Manage wellbeing strategies and roll out to employees Coordinate with Finance on starters/ leavers, employee changes, support checking payroll monthly Record, update and maintain all HR information, systems and files Manage yearly mandatory training for staff, including set up, communication on course and resetting and being the main point of contact Assisting with L&D projects, including managing our Emerging Leader programme Coordinate logistics for training courses including room reservation, ordering supplies, ordering catering and room set-up Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality Demonstrate attention to detail and ability to record information accurately Support the mission, vision and values of Petty Pool and the wider organisation

Person Specification



Proven experience in a generalist HR role, providing advice and operational support. (E) Sound understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice. (E) Confident using HRIS or database systems and generating reports. (E) Ability to build positive working relationships at all levels. (E) CIPD Level 5 qualified or working towards (or equivalent experience). (E) Experience working in the charity, education, or public sector. (D) Knowledge of Databridge or similar HR data systems. (D) Experience delivering or supporting wellbeing and engagement strategies. (D)
