Purpose of the Role



To support the Human Resources & Recruitment Manager in delivering a proactive, efficient, and compliant HR and recruitment service across the business. This role acts as a key point of contact for people-related matters, ensuring advice and support is consistent with internal processes, employment legislation. The HR Advisor plays a vital part in ensuring our people operations are effective, legally compliant, and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities



Provide first-line HR support to managers and employees on a range of topics including HR policies, employee relations, payroll queries, performance management, and absence management. Advise line managers on disciplinary, grievance, capability, and conduct matters, supporting formal and informal proceedings including note-taking and documentation preparation. Support the end-to-end employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, changes to employment, performance reviews, and offboarding. Ensure all recruitment activities are well-coordinated, including liaising with hiring managers and agencies, arranging interviews, conducting pre-employment checks, issuing offer letters and contracts, and managing new starter inductions. Monitor and report on key HR metrics (e.g. turnover, absence, recruitment activity), ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the HR Manager. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in line with GDPR and internal procedures. Assist with the ongoing development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and best practice. Provide advice on reward, recognition, and employee benefits, signposting appropriately. Support the HR Manager with annual audits and checks including Right to Work, DBS, and professional qualifications. Support and contribute to FCA COCON responsibilities, including monitoring employee conduct, escalating breaches, and maintaining relevant training records for certification staff where applicable. Assist with health and safety administration and ensure compliance with company protocols. Work closely with payroll and finance teams to ensure attendance, absence, and pay-related data is accurate and up to date. Maintain an understanding of FCA and GDPR regulations as they relate to HR processes, raising issues or risks when identified. Provide administrative support to the HR team and participate in HR projects and initiatives. Actively contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture and uphold the company's values and standards.

Experience & Knowledge



Essential:



Proven experience in a similar HR role, ideally within a regulated or fast-paced environment. Strong working knowledge of core HR practices and procedures. Basic understanding of UK employment law with a willingness to develop further. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels. Highly organised with strong administrative and record-keeping skills. Confident in handling sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.

Desirable:



CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) or willingness to study toward a fully funded CIPD qualification. Awareness of FCA guidelines and Conduct Rules (COCON), particularly relating to employee behaviour and responsibilities in a regulated environment. Understanding of GDPR, data protection principles, and their application in HR. Experience drafting HR documents including contracts, offer letters, and policy updates. Basic understanding of health & safety responsibilities in the workplace. (desirable)
