An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our People Function as an Apprentice, and to start your career in HR. This new, developmental role will sit within our Staff Compliance Team, who are responsible for ensuring that all new staff have the necessary checks and permissions in place to work with the University. The Apprentice will be trained to provide administrative support to this team, and to ensure that high quality, timely Right to Work (RTW), Disclosure & Barring (DBS) and other related checks are undertaken.
This role is full time (35 hours per week), and the apprentice will spend 20% of their time undertaking a special programme of training offered by our training partner. The actual working times/days will be agreed according to Staff Compliance business needs. The role is fully aligned to the level 3 HR Support apprenticeship standard (A-level equivalent) and will lead to Associate Membership of the CIPD, the professional body for HR professionals, on completion.
What you would be doing

As they progress in the role, the apprentice will be expected to undertake a wide range of progressively more demanding administrative duties to support the Staff ID & Vetting Team Leader and Administrator with RTW and DBS checks. This would include sending out communications and reminders, generating links via our ID check platforms, and carrying out the necessary Right to Work and DBS checks.

Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
Understanding of GDPR, confidentiality, Right to Work checks and DBS.
Comfortable working independently while knowing when to seek guidance or escalate issues.
Customer-focused mindset with a positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to delivering value.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
