We are looking for a capable and organised HR Assistant. Based in Newbury, you will manage day-to-day HR operations, recruitment, onboarding, training, and reviews - ensuring our growing team of craftspeople, designers, and office staff are well supported at every stage.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you'll be the first point of contact for all HR matters, providing structure and consistency while helping to maintain a positive, people-focused culture. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable owning their role, who enjoys variety, responsibility, and being part of a close-knit, creative manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities
HR Ownership & Administration
Take full responsibility for HR administration, processes, and compliance.
Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records.
Track holidays, absence, and performance reviews.
Prepare HR documentation such as offer letters, contracts, and policy updates
Provide HR reports and updates.
Ensure legal and data protection compliance in all HR practices.
Recruitment & Onboarding
Manage the full recruitment process -- from job adverts to interviews and offers.
Liaise with managers to define role requirements and timelines.
Handle all candidate communication and coordination.
Prepare induction materials and lead new starter inductions.
Keep recruitment trackers and onboarding records up to date.
Training & Staff Development
Maintain training records and coordinate learning activities.
Work with managers and staff to identify and plan staff training needs.
Arrange internal and external training sessions.
Manage the appraisal process and follow up on personal development actions.
Promote ongoing learning and skills development across the business.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Previous experience in HR or Recruitment.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality.
Comfortable managing multiple priorities independently.
Competent with computers, especially Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable:
Experience within a manufacturing, production, or creative environment.
Understanding of HR policies and UK employment law basics.
Interest in employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
