Hr Casework Team Leader

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Team Leader to contribute to the leadership of our HR Casework Team and provide high-level, solution-focused HR advice across the Council, schools, and partner organisations. This is a pivotal role where you will manage complex and sensitive casework, drive operational excellence, and contribute to the development of HR policies and processes that safeguard the organisation and its employees.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the HR Casework Team, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Provide expert advice on complex HR issues and casework, including conduct, resolutions, sickness absence, capability, probationary, performance, and whistleblowing.
  • Support and represent the Council in formal hearings, appeals, and Employment Tribunals.
  • Develop and deliver staff briefings and training on HR policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, trade unions, and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative data in relation to cases to the HR Business Partner
  • Monitor KPIs and contribute to strategic HR development initiatives.
  • Delivers HR support within an appropriate risk management framework, helping to identify and manage potential risks in a proportionate and practical way.
About You
  • Educated to CIPD Level 5 or able to demonstrate significant and relevant experience, underpinned by a strong foundation in practical and procedural HR knowledge
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and engage teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Skilled in managing complex and sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion.
  • Confident communicator with experience of working with senior stakeholders and external agencies.
