Job Description

About EDS Brands

At EDS Brands Ltd, we create and deliver high-impact B2B IT and Cyber events that connect technology leaders, innovators, and industry experts. Our events are known for their energy, creativity, and impact - and our team reflects that.

We're a young, vibrant, and ambitious company of around 25 people, growing fast and constantly evolving. To support this growth, we're now looking for an experienced and proactive HR & Compliance Manager to establish and lead our internal HR function and ensure we continue to operate responsibly, legally, and in line with best practices.

This is an exciting opportunity to build something from the ground up and make a real difference in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

About the Role

As our HR & Compliance Manager, you'll take ownership of all things people-related - from onboarding and contracts to policies, employee engagement, and compliance.

You'll act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, ensuring we remain fully compliant with employment law, data protection (GDPR), and workplace regulations, while helping us maintain a great culture that empowers our people to do their best work.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, contracts, development, and offboarding. Develop and maintain all HR policies, procedures, and documentation in line with UK employment law and company values. Provide HR advice and support to managers on employee relations matters such as disciplinaries, grievances, and performance management. Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and ensure smooth HR administration. Support payroll and benefits processes as needed. Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture across the business.
Compliance & Legal

Ensure company-wide compliance with employment legislation, GDPR, equality, and health & safety. Act as the Data Protection lead for HR data, ensuring GDPR compliance across people processes. Draft and update employment contracts, handbooks, and templates to reflect current legislation and best practice. Coordinate compliance training for staff (data protection, equality, conduct, etc.). Liaise with external legal advisors where specialist support is needed. Keep senior management informed of relevant legal or regulatory changes.
Strategic & Operational

Work closely with senior leadership to develop HR strategy and workforce planning. Introduce efficient HR systems and processes to support company growth. Provide insights and recommendations on improving engagement, retention, and performance.
About You

We're looking for someone who's as comfortable rolling up their sleeves as they are advising senior stakeholders. You'll be a confident communicator who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

Essential

5+ years' HR experience, ideally within a standalone or SME role. Excellent working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice. Strong understanding of GDPR and data privacy requirements. Proven experience drafting HR policies, contracts, and handbooks. Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently. CIPD Level 5 (or higher) or equivalent experience. A people-focused approach - approachable, empathetic, and solutions-driven.
Desirable

Experience in compliance, governance, or data protection roles. Experience setting up HR systems or processes from scratch. Background in a creative, tech, or events environment.
What We Offer

A key role in shaping the future of our company as we grow. A friendly, collaborative, and high-energy workplace. Hybrid and flexible working options. Opportunities for professional development and CIPD support. A culture that values innovation, honesty, and great ideas.
If you're ready to make a lasting impact and help shape the people and compliance foundations of a fast-growing events business -- we'd love to hear from you.
