We're looking for a game changing HR Consultant to join our small but mighty team in Cardiff.
As a HR Consultant you'll manage your own portfolio of clients and support them on all aspects of HR & Recruitment. You'll be the first point of contact for clients where you'll support with day-to-day HR queries, advise & lead on restructure, redundancy & ER projects, and help them to develop HR strategies. It's a varied role with bags of potential to do great things!
Alongside HR delivery, you'll also support us to grow the business; from spotting opportunities where we can add more value to existing clients as well as engaging in networking opportunities to attract new clients.
The role goes beyond a compliance-only approach so that we can help our clients build better businesses. We showcase what great HR can really do!
JOB DESCRIPTION:
HR Delivery:
Be the dedicated HR support for a portfolio of retained clients, providing advice & guidance on all stages of the employee lifecycle.
Build great working relationships with clients to understand their challenges, approach & strategic priorities.
Create accurate & informative HR resources, including contracts, policies, handbooks & employee comms.
Act in capacity of Investigating / Hearing Officer for all types of ER cases; conducing interviews, gathering evidence & writing reports.
Advise & lead redundancy, restructure & TUPE transfer projects.
Develop HR strategies & roadmaps that align with client's overall business objectives, in line with our values & approach.
Introduce & monitor HR metrics to support clients in making evidence based decisions.
Deliver all aspects of recruitment support including, job design, advertising, ATS management, pre-employment checks & onboarding.
Onboard & maintain HRIS systems on behalf of clients.
Write content for & deliver training in a way that brings great HR to life!
Account Management:
Create & maintain HR resources that can be utilised across client accounts.
Create products & toolkits that support clients to deliver great HR.
Monitor client compliance, metrics & HR activity to maximise support.
Support new business activities & the creation of new client proposals.
Actively engage in networking opportunities to attract new clients & grow our client portfolio, ensuring that FTHR is represented to a high standard.
Attend industry events & training to stay updated on legal changes, best practice approaches & the future of work.
Support in the creation of engaging HR content for newsletters, website & socials.
All activities are expected to be undertaken in a thorough, compliant & values-led way.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential skills, experience & approach:
You'll have a wealth of experience in advising managers & leaders with accurate, pragmatic & solution-focused HR advice.
You'll be familiar with representing HR in meetings and be able to confidently articulate requirements & influence senior stakeholders.
You'll be experienced in advising on complex ER cases including investigations, disciplinaries, conduct, performance, discrimination. Must be willing to develop the skills to act in the capacity of Investigating / Hearing Officer.
You'll have experience in advising and/or leading on restructure, redundancy & TUPE transfer projects.
You'll have excellent communication skills and a coaching approach to helping clients understand risks & options in a helpful, simple and jargon-free way.
You'll have excellent attention to detail and a willingness to be curious to delve into the 'why*', so that we can ensure our solutions are detailed and to a high standard. You'll be able to balance working independently with team collaboration.
You'll be a keen organiser with great project management skills and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities & deadlines simultaneously.
You'll be proficient with Microsoft Office and able to quickly learn HR software systems, project boards & comms tools.
Desirable but not essential:
You may have experience in acting as an Investigating / Hearing Officer.
You may have experience of working in a fast growth startup, scale up or small business. Whilst not required, you must have an interest in the startup ecosystem and overall entrepreneurial journey.
WHAT'S ON OFFER:
37.5 hours per week (but could also be a part time or job share role)
39,000 - 41,000pa (depending on experience)
Working 1 day each week at our Cardiff office balanced with WFH
Some travel to client sites required so ideally you'll be in or around the South Wales area.
