About the role



We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and strategic HR Manager to support our growing team and advance our mission. This role as HR Manager will be a standalone role, requiring experience in safer recruitment in a Children's Services environment.

You will be responsible for leading all aspects of HR functions including recruitment, training, employee relations, compliance, and policy development. This role requires a proactive, empathetic leader who understands the unique emotional and regulatory needs of a child welfare service environment.

You will be dealing with between 50 - 100 members of staff who are a mix of employed PAYE and self-employed staff.

Responsibilities include



1. Compliance and Policy



Ensuring the organisation complies with all relevant employment legislation and health and safety guidelines.

Developing and implementing HR policies and procedures that align with best practices and meet organisational needs.

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation.

Managing HR-related paperwork and reporting requirements.

Ensuring the organisation complies with safeguarding policies and procedures.

2. Recruitment and Selection



Managing the end-to-end recruitment process, including job descriptions, advertising, interviewing, and onboarding.

Ensuring all pre-employment checks are completed and compliant, including the ordering and verification of enhanced DBS certificates.

Developing and implementing strategies to attract and retain talent.

3. Training and Development



Maintaining and tracking the staff training matrix, ensuring all staff are up to date with relevant training.

Ensuring staff have access to necessary training and resources.

Overseeing the evaluation of learning and development activities.

4. HR Administration



Managing the administration of personnel records and documentation.

Maintaining employee data on the HR system - Sage HR.

Requirements and skills



Human Resources experience in safer recruitment with experience in Children's Services.

Adaptable, flexible and open minded.

Able to manage a heavy workload in a busy and ever-changing environment.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

CIPD Level 3 or above qualification is preferable but not essential.

Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office suite.

Knowledge of employment law and best practices.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Contract Type: Employed

Salary: 40,000 - 45,000 subject to experience

Hours: 09:00 - 17:30 Monday to Friday, in-person

Own vehicle is a must

Safer Recruitment



A DBS check will be required. The role involves contact with children, you will be required to undergo the relevant vetting checks. This will include checking for criminal convictions and checking that you are not barred from working with children. All information you provide will be treated as confidential and managed in accordance with relevant data protection legislation and guidance. You have a legal right to access any information held about you. You will also be subject to an in-house driving assessment, and drug and alcohol testing to determine the use of illegal drugs.
