As our on-site HR Manager, looking after approximately 50 employees and agency personnel you'll take ownership of all day-to-day HR activity across the workshop , supporting both production operatives and the office staff. From recruitment to employee relations, and training coordination, you will be the go-to person for all people-related matters.
This is a genuinely hands-on role in a traditional family-owned business -- perfect for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, getting involved directly with staff, and managing both strategic and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Handle HR administration including contracts, right-to-work checks, personnel files, and HR updates.
Manage recruitment for workshop and office roles, including liaising with agencies.
Support site inductions for new starters and manage probation review process.
Provide first-line advice on HR issues (absence, performance, ER matters) in line with UK employment law and ACAS guidelines.
Utilise Time and attendance data to manage absence and lateness.
Maintain training records, organise mandatory H&S training and support skills development plans.
Support and coach managers to develop their skills
Be a visible HR presence on the workshop floor, building strong relationships across the site.
Support employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Experience in HR within manufacturing, production, or similar industrial environments with strong ER expertise
Comfortable doing everything from HR admin to advising managers - no task too big or too small.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Good understanding of UK employment law.
Confident communicator able to work with staff at all levels.
Able to implement strategy, lead culture change, oversee audits
A HR leader who is looking for a reduced-hours role
Min CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience).
