At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a HR People Partner to join our team.


This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our People & Culture department supports the organisation with workforce engagement, development, and organisational culture alongside Talent Acquisition & Recruitment, Learning & Development, Reward & Recognition and Employee Relations.


As a HR People Partner, you will align people strategy with business needs while working with our Managers to ensure our colleagues are safe, skilled, engaged, and aligned with business goals and strategies.

What you'll be doing

To work both strategically and operationally in a business partnering capacity to ensure HR support is provided to a high level. Implement and deliver the SFEL People Strategy. Provide support and guidance to Managers with complex employee relations issues, i.e. discipline and grievance, absence management, performance management, etc. Ensure that line managers are equipped with the skills to coach their people to high levels of performance and ongoing development of their skills. Analyse and make data - driven decisions on strategic approaches to challenges. Lead on key change projects. Contribute to the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures. Participate in HR projects as and when required. Lead other members of the HR Team.

About You

CIPD qualified. Demonstrable experience as a HR Generalist. Business partnering experience. Previous experience of leading on change projects. Strong business and commercial acumen. Strong communication and relationship building skills. Current knowledge of employment legislation. Experience of coaching and influencing managers. Experience of working within a unionised environment.

The Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday. We offer flexibility in our start and finish times between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 - 18:00 (amend as required).

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. People working with government / MOD assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 - 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
