The Human Resources Summer Undergraduate Internship Programme:
Assessment Centre: Thursday 26 Feb 2026
The People (Human Resources) Function at St James's Place manages all employee-related matters within our organisation. Our six-week paid internship is designed for students in their penultimate year of study, offering a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand experience within a Human Resources (HR) department in a professional working environment. Throughout the internship programme, you'll be part of an inclusive and supportive team, contributing to day-to-day responsibilities while also working on ad-hoc projects across the Function
This is a chance to build your professional network, develop essential workplace skills, and explore what a future career at St. James's Place could look like. The internship provides both structure and flexibility, giving you the opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow in a dynamic setting and upon completion of the internship you have the opportunity of being considered for a position on our Human Resources Graduate Programme in the People Function the following year once you complete your studies.
Key responsibilities:

  • You will be working across the People Function during your internship programme gaining exposure to a wide range of HR teams which may include Business Partnering, Employee Relations, People Operations, Reward, Culture, Talent and Learning and Development.
  • Your role will be to support the People team with projects during your internship across the Function, this will support you in building your knowledge of the breadth of the human resources discipline and support your ability to network and work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • You will be asked to support with day-to-day tasks such as responding to queries from employees, reporting and other administrative duties
  • You will work shadow a wide range of professionals in our Function in meetings so that you can understand our People Strategy and how we work to deliver operations to our wider St James's Place business.
What we're looking for:
  • You must be in your penultimate year of a relevant Human Resource Management or Psychology degree
  • You should have a minimum Level 7 (or grade A) at Mathematics GCSE or equivalent
  • Comfortable dealing with large amounts of data, and able to analyse and present this in a digestible format
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
Special Requirements:
This internship is based at our offices in Cirencester, Gloucestershire and you will be required to be in the office a minimum of three days a week and more when the business requires it.
Please note that whilst we accept applications from international students for our internship opportunities, there are some UK Government restrictions on who we can sponsor and so it may be the case that we are unable to offer you a role on our Graduate programmes once you complete your studies.
