About the Role



As the Hygiene Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and supervising the cleaning and hygiene processes across the factory, offices, and wider site through a team of dedicated Hygiene Shift Managers. You will drive excellence in food safety, hygiene, and microbiological standards while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, motivate and support Hygiene Shift Managers to ensure high standards of performance, safety, PPE compliance and discipline. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with departmental and senior managers to meet hygiene needs across all areas. Oversee the cleanliness of canteens, locker rooms and toilet areas ensuring stock and replenishment systems are in place. Coordinate and authorise the cleaning of machinery and equipment as required by management. Develop and maintain the site cleaning schedule, CIC register, and detailed cleaning instruction cards. Conduct regular inspections to verify cleaning standards and complete the necessary documentation. Manage hygiene staffing levels, ensuring all employees are trained, competent and performing efficiently. Manage disciplinary and grievance processes for hygiene staff in collaboration with HR. Monitor and maintain cleaning chemical and equipment inventories, ensuring availability and compliance. Manage the hygienic collection and disposal of site waste. Liaise with the Technical Department regarding audits, chemical dilution checks, and microbiological swab results. Maintain shift structure and holiday rotas to ensure sufficient hygiene coverage at all times.
Health & Safety:

Ensure all hygiene activities are carried out in compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures. Promote safe working practices and ensure all staff are trained and signed off against relevant CIC documentation.
Training & Development:

Support the training and development of Hygiene team members to enhance capability and performance. Promote open and effective communication across teams. Foster a strong Food Safety Culture and encourage staff engagement in continuous improvement initiatives. Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support the wider site operations.

About You



Proven experience in a Hygiene Management role within a food manufacturing of similar hygiene environment. Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-shift teams. Excellent knowledge of hygiene standards, cleaning chemicals and equipment. Strong understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation. Confident communicator with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels. Organised, proactive and committed to driving continuous improvement. A strong understanding of efficiency. Experience and qualified in the principles of cleaning and disinfection. COSHH trained. IPAF trained and within current certification.

Working Hours



Hours of work will be Monday to Friday between 08:00 - 17:00. Flexibility is required. This role is site based.
