To deliver safe, engaging and high-quality gymnastics coaching in line with
IGA
or
British Gymnastics (BG)
standards. The coach will support gymnasts of varying ages and abilities, contribute to the development of the programme, and uphold the club's safeguarding, welfare and health & safety practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoaching & Session Delivery
Plan and deliver structured, progressive gymnastics sessions aligned with IGA/BG frameworks.
Support gymnasts in developing fundamental movement, strength, flexibility and technical skills.
Adapt coaching to meet individual needs, abilities and learning styles.
Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive training environment.
Prepare gymnasts for internal assessments, festivals, events or competitions as appropriate.
Safety & Welfare
Ensure all sessions follow safety guidelines, risk assessments and equipment checks.
Promote and uphold the club's safeguarding and welfare policies.
Respond appropriately to incidents, recording and reporting as required.
Teamwork & Communication
Work collaboratively with coaching colleagues to ensure smooth session transitions and consistency.
Communicate clearly with parents/guardians about progress, expectations and any concerns.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions and CPD opportunities.
Programme Support
Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment.
Contribute to club events, showcases, competitions, and holiday camps.
Support the ongoing development of lesson plans, curriculum and club pathways.
Qualifications & RequirementsEssential
IGA or BG coaching qualification
Experience working with children or young gymnasts.
Strong understanding of safe coaching practice and child development.
Positive, encouraging and professional coaching style.
Willingness to undertake safeguarding and first aid training.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable
Additional BG modules or higher coaching level qualifications.
Experience coaching across multiple disciplines (e.g., Recreational, Artistic, TeamGym, Preschool).
Experience delivering gymnastics in schools or community settings.
Knowledge of competition rules and routine development (IGA or BG).
Personal Qualities

Working Hours & Environment
Evenings and weekends may be required depending on the programme.
