Job information
The University of Bedfordshire Business School is at the forefront of expanding opportunity and access in higher education. We are committed to career-powered education that prepares students for professional employment and inspires them to achieve their ambitions.

Following significant investment by the University in the student experience, we are seeking to appoint two Immigration Advice Authority (IAA, formerly OISC) caseworkers at level 2 Asylum and Protection to work within the Refugee Legal Assistance Project (RLAP).

RLAP is an externally facing legal education project set up in 2014 and registered with the IAA at level 2 Asylum and Protection. The project provides pro bono legal assistance to refugees wishing to sponsor family reunion for their family members outside the UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice to clients on refugee family reunion routes and preparing their family's applications. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records in line with professional standards and organisation reporting frameworks. Other duties will include delivering training, supervision and providing feedback to student volunteers.

Previous experience of providing immigration advice and working with vulnerable individuals is essential, as well as a strong commitment to the values of RLAP and the University. You must have an excellent working knowledge of UK immigration and asylum law and a track record of client-facing legal casework in the immigration sector in the UK.

The ideal candidate will be registered with the IAA at level 2 Asylum and Protection with experience of casework and conducting evidence-based research to help identify strategic challenges that can feed into wider policy and research work. You will be an excellent communicator and enjoy working as part of a team. You should be well-organised and able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

The post will be based at the Luton campus, with travel to other campuses as required.

Interviews will be held on Thursday, 09 October 2025
