We are excited to announce that we have two new positions available to join our casework team and our Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) training pathway through to Level 2 Asylum and Protection and Immigration. We have one full time post at 35 hrs per week and a part time post at 21 hrs per week.

Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support (DCRS) has been working for the last 26 years with the asylum seeker and refugee populations in this region. This post will be focused on advocating for this group, conducting casework across all aspects of asylum support and providing immigration and asylum advice once qualified. DCRS covers the entire training cost as one of our core functions aims to increase the number of advisors across the region.

Main function of the Job

To manage a portfolio of Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) Level 1 Immigration, Asylum and social casework. This will mean working towards IAA Level 1 Asylum and Protection and Immigration qualification within 1 year of employment. We will expect the post-holder to continue their learning and gain Level 2 Asylum and Protection and Immigration OISC accreditation by the end of year 2 of employment. This training pathway is compulsory as part of the role.

Main Duties

Manage a caseload of Asylum support and IAA Level 1 casework. Once your Level 2 qualification is attained you will be expected to conduct work at this level. To manage a caseload of basic and complex asylum casework. This includes advocating for your service users and seeing cases through to a positive outcome. To help manage the hybrid triage system, destitution, travel and relief fund. To build longstanding, trusting relationships with those that use our service To gain the relevant qualifications within the timeframe set. To develop the casework department, alongside the team, to better our service. To attend regular staff and casework meetings, keep up to date with changing legislation and proactively build new relationships with external stakeholders. To attend external meetings with other agencies and represent DCRS. To take responsibility for your own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as agreed with the IAA Supervisor. To support training of students, volunteers, partner agencies and external stakeholders To support the team with any new challenges that arise.

Pay: 25,606.00-28,111.00 per year
