Job description

We're recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in West London for a

committed and forward-thinking Inclusion Officer & DDSL

. This is a key role supporting senior leaders in ensuring that all students, particularly those who are vulnerable or looked after, receive the intervention and safeguarding support they need to thrive.


You'll work closely with the Head of Safeguarding and Inclusion to identify and address barriers to learning, supporting pupils to make meaningful progress both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted intervention and support for vulnerable students, including looked after and previously looked after children. Identify and address barriers to learning such as behaviour, attendance, and social or family challenges. Collaborate with senior leaders to implement effective strategies that improve student engagement and wellbeing. Act as Deputy DSL, ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented and upheld. Convene and lead meetings, prepare detailed reports, and maintain accurate safeguarding and intervention records. Liaise with and refer to external agencies, including social care and local authority services, to ensure joined-up support for students.

Experience and Skills Required:

Strong working knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation. Understanding of statutory responsibilities around attendance, behaviour, and safeguarding in education. Proven experience supporting vulnerable pupils or families in an educational or pastoral setting. Confident communicator with experience working alongside a range of professionals and agencies. Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
