Electrical Testing Ltd is a nationally recognised training provider delivering
Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeships in Highway Electrical Systems

apprenticeship centre
is an accredited training division delivering high-quality, employer-responsive training. We are committed to maintaining rigorous oversight, accountability, and continuous quality improvement across our provision. We currently hold an Ofsted rating of GOOD.
About the Role:
We are seeking a committed
Independent Governor
to join our governance board and support the strategic oversight of our
Highway Electrical apprenticeship provision
. The role is non-executive and ideal for someone with experience in
education, skills policy, compliance, quality assurance, or public service
.
This is a
voluntary governance role
, not involved in day-to-day operations. You will contribute to ensuring that leadership is held to account, funding is used effectively, and that learner outcomes remain high.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend up to
4 board meetings per year
(hybrid format)
Provide
strategic oversight
of the apprenticeship training division
Offer
independent challenge and support
to senior leaders
Monitor
quality, safeguarding, learner outcomes
, and employer engagement
Ensure compliance with
Ofsted EIF
,
ESFA funding rules
, and
governance best practice
Support the review of
self-assessment reports
, improvement plans, and curriculum planning
Person Specification:
We welcome applications from individuals with any of the following experience:
Governance or trustee roles in education or charity sectors
Quality assurance, Ofsted inspection, or funding compliance
Leadership in further education, apprenticeships, or technical training
HR, finance, legal, or safeguarding expertise relevant to education
Public service or infrastructure sector knowledge (desirable)
You must be:
Independent
of the organisation's management team and ownership structure
Able to bring an
objective, impartial perspective
Passionate about supporting learner success and employer needs
