Internal Secondment Opportunity

The Independent Living team at Canterbury City Council are looking for an Independent Living Manager to join them.





This is an exciting secondment opportunity to be part of Canterbury City Council's Independent Living team; an important service provided to our older residents. We are recruiting an Independent Living Manager to work as part of this high performing team to make a positive difference to the lives of our older residents. You will be working with tenants and partners to deliver and improve the housing services for older tenants living in sheltered housing, building sustainable communities and empowering their independence.

About this Independent Living Manager role:





The Independent Living Team delivers intensive housing management to older and vulnerable tenants to promote tenancy sustainment and independence in later life.


Assess the eligibility of housing applicants who wish to live in sheltered accommodation Provide advice to tenants to promote independence and sustain tenancies Deliver intensive housing management services that include dealing with vacant properties and tenancy issues, anti-social behaviour and breaches of tenancy Ensure the health, safety and well-being of tenants and the schemes, including taking appropriate action on any potential safeguarding concerns Work closely with other agencies and internal customers Keep tenant records up to date and be aware of Data Protection Carry out welfare calls via lifeline system and in person.



Working pattern:




5 hours per week over Wednesday to Friday Wednesday 1pm-5pm Thursday and Friday 7.25hrs worked between 8:30am and 5:00pm Bank holidays excluded



About you, the ideal Independent Living Manager for the job:






Your skills




Good communicator including letter writing and report writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to a range of audiences Customer focused Competent in the use of IT systems (Microsoft 365 suite) Ability to work confidently, flexibly, using own initiative and as part of a team Ability to positively interact with different departments and contractors to resolve customer enquiries and complaints Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines



Your qualifications:




Full clean driving licence. Access to a vehicle for work - travel between work locations will be required. Educated to a good literacy and numeracy standard. Knowledge of welfare benefits. Knowledge of housing and tenancy legislation




Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.
