As we continue to grow we are seeking a passionate and skilled Industrial Designer or Architectural Technician in a contract role to be part of our dynamic team. You will play a key role in creating bespoke spaces as well as designs suitable for manufacturing in the UK. Overview



In this role, you will be responsible for producing technical drawings, specification documents, and detailed technical plans, including BOMs and cutting lists, for manufacturing, joinery, and site teams. You'll collaborate closely with the team to ensure projects are executed smoothly, on time, and with minimal stress.

Key Responsibilities



Manage client-facing projects in a fast-paced, live (and fun!) environment with often tight deadlines. Collaborate closely with the sales and your design team colleagues to ensure project development aligns with initial concepts, proposal and client approvals. Prepare presentation sheets to present to clients and reissue revisions of the design development for sign off. Creation of planning documentation, site plans and services. Prepare detailed technical drawings with the output to include setting-out drawings, BOMs and cutting lists, for manufacturing and ordering use. Work with engineers, carpenters and other team members to ensure design feasibility and project alignment. Ensure timely production and distribution of drawings, BOMs, and cutting sheets, and communicate/issue any revisions or updates promptly. Solve technical challenges related to new and fun design elements, such as bothy beds, sliding shutters or drop-down decks. Help with procurement (those related to technical drawings) Create detailed specification documents covering all aspects of the build (e.g., heating, electrics, plumbing), liaising with specialists as needed. Comfortable with repetitive tasks while maintaining high quality in producing our standard product cabins.

Experience with

Adobe Creative Cloud

AutoCAD/SketchUp

, and Google Suite is highly advantageous. Knowledge of construction methods and the ability to adapt standard details to specific design needs. Commercial awareness and the ability to deliver projects on time within a small company. Strong technical drawing and project management skills, with experience creating reusable technical libraries. Ability to communicate clearly with external contractors, suppliers, and fabricators. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks effectively. Experience with personal design/build projects is a bonus.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Product Design, Industrial Design or related field. Proven experience in architectural design and detailing. Proficiency in design software (SolidWorks, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite). Strong conceptual thinking, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills. Attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for innovation.

Desirable Qualifications



Knowledge of UK planning laws, building regulations, and control processes. Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and building codes. Experience in creating groundworks, drainage, and foundation plans is a plus. A desire to be part of a small, influential team shaping the company's future.

Additional Responsibilities



Office-based role at our Design Studio near Yealmpton, Devon. Support the sales and office teams by answering phone calls and managing client files. Assist with office admin, client communication, and participate in team meetings. Help at trade shows and with office maintenance tasks as needed. Represent the company professionally at all times. Driving company vehicles to visit clients on site

General Information



This is a permanent role at a minimum 4 days per week. Pay is dependent on experience and contracted hours Adherence to the company handbook and policies is required. A shorter working week may be considered.
