Role Description

We are looking for a solutions-focused individual who is passionate about high quality people experiences across all touch-points of the employee lifecycle. We have a consumer approach to our employees, designing and building people products that our employees want to interact with, and that support business results. As a partnering and wider-HR team, we have built strong foundations, yet still early in our quest to build scalable, high quality people experiences, of which you will be integral to our future.

Reporting into the Senior HR Business Partner as part of a humble and super-collaborative team, you will partner with UM, a media agency who strives to consistently deliver award winning work supported by their continuous improvement culture, made up of approximately 170 people based in our London office.

Working closely with the Senior HR Advisor, you will support and advise people managers, as well as provide solutions and improvements to employee relations, cycles and experiences. You\'ll be a champion for diversity and inclusion, ensuring that everything we do is in keeping with our values and is equitable and fair. Along with the business-as-usual responsibilities, you will be involved in exciting projects covering onboarding, learning & development, recognition, DE&I, talent attraction & retention, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage starters and leavers including probation periods, resignations, exit interviews and feedback reports, hosting (with other Advisors & L&D) new starter inductions, letters, and suggesting improvements to the employee onboarding & leaver experience.
  • Advisor for a broad range of employee relations matters, such as employee queries or concerns, absence management, parental leave, flexible working requests, performance management and right to work requirements and visa management/renewal.
  • Suggest improvements to current people experiences and process.
  • Play a pivotal role in compensation and benefits management including the monthly UM payroll review, and preparation and management of benchmarking data updates, compensation and promotion reviews.
  • Take part in debriefs after the annual compensation review cycles to continue to improve experience and process for both the partnering team and leadership.
  • Support the UM HR team with learning and development opportunities with the potential to host development-related sessions, as well as cover L&D improvements, training & skills analysis, reporting, communication campaigns, training attendance, and sourcing and managing a hub of appropriate courses recommended by the L&D team.
  • Support and in some cases manage areas of the performance management cycle and performance platform Leapsome, guiding both managers and employees through the performance review cycle and ongoing performance management such as reviews, feedback and goal setting.
  • Work in partnership with the hiring managers and the talent acquisition team to add value to the recruitment process, including being a key contact for hiring managers throughout, supporting hiring managers when using the talent platform Greenhouse, and supporting the partnering team with preparation for the monthly staffing/budget meeting with UM CEOs and Finance.
  • Support with early careers programmes and workshops, advising managers on the most suitable pathway for their more hands-on talent needs.
  • Assist with and own people projects & reporting spanning across onboarding, wellbeing, employee engagement and surveys, recognition, DE&I, early careers, talent attraction, talent retention, L&D, reporting and analysis.
Desired Skills & Experience

Experience:
  • You have some experience in a people/HR role (ideally generalist) and passionate about a career that supports and improves people experiences.
  • You have some experience of working with and learning HR systems and tools.
  • You are comfortable using Microsoft especially One Drive, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (but Google workspace experience is also fine!).
  • You have a basic understanding of employment law and best practice.
Competencies:
  • You are consistently proactive and curious; always looking to improve the status quo, asking \'why\' and helping with the \'how\'.
  • You\'re willing to learn new tech tools and systems.
  • You thrive in a hybrid working environment.
  • You\'re coachable; love to learn and not afraid of failures.
  • You\'re OK with ambiguity and change and have a growth mindset.
  • You share your knowledge and learnings to help your team and colleagues grow.
  • You have great attention to detail and don\'t mind spending some of your days in a spreadsheet!
  • You are solutions-focused with natural problem-solving skills.
  • You have strong relationship building skills and can tailor messages and style appropriately to an audience, to influence and build relationships quickly at all levels.
  • You\'re passionate about clear and open communication channels, particularly in relation to employee trust and engagement, and managing stakeholders\' expectations.
  • You value honesty and openness.
  • You understand confidentiality is key.
  • You are a true collaborator who enjoys working with a close-knit team as well as cross-functionally.
  • You are highly organised and flexible with excellent prioritisation and follow-up skills.
