Hays are partnered exclusively with Canterbury City Council to recruit for this progressive and important role. We are looking for an ICT Infrastructure Manager to join the infrastructure team and be involved with all aspects of ICT Infrastructure modernisation following a transition from an outsourced environment.

This role would be suitable if you are an experienced Infrastructure Manager or a Lead Infrastructure Engineer that is looking for the next step in your career.

As the IT Infrastructure Manager, you will:

  • Take a significant role in the strategic transformation of the infrastructure from its current state to its future state. Helping to modernise and think radically about the role of technology in the future of the organisation.
  • Take a significant role in running all infrastructure services, ensuring high levels of reliability, security and availability. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising all new and existing network hardware, communication links (including telephony) and shared platforms.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and quality assurance where required to the team on key areas of the live environment, including but not limited to: Active Directory, cloud, on-prem and hybrid computing and storage.
  • Supervise and mentor the infrastructure team, taking responsibility for building, documenting, managing, supporting, and maintaining solutions according to policy and business need.
  • Assess the performance, availability, security and compliance of the ICT infrastructure and systems.
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends and developments in ICT infrastructure and best practices so that it can be experimented and implemented wisely.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • An understanding of information security and how to build infrastructure with security controls Embedded, specifically engineered with mitigation of security threats as a core feature.
  • Knowledge of managing and configuring enterprise-wide networks including LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
  • A solid understanding of ICT infrastructure management principles, practices and tools, including Active Directory, group policies, various hosting options, SSL, SAN, business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of implementing, administering and supporting infrastructure technologies, solutions and services such as: computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructures, software, COTS and open-source software packages and solutions, and virtual and cloud computing, including PaaS, SaaS.
  • Knowledge of how excellent service delivery can be delivered effectively in a busy and complex technology environment, with a particular awareness of how infrastructure operates in a corporate environment.
  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality and reliable ICT services.
  • Understanding of modern infrastructure standards and ability to apply the most appropriate practices, coaching others in these standards.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting hardware such as Servers, Routers, Switches, hubs, network interface cards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
