ThePetFoodPeople has been operating since 2017 and runs its own manufacturing, warehouse, and fulfilment operations across multiple functions.
This role supports the day-to-day finance needs of the Ynyshir site, ensuring that routine bookkeeping and reconciliations are accurate, current, and well maintained.
The role
We're looking for a practical, dependable Bookkeeper to support the production and despatch departments at our Ynyshir site.
Core finance systems are highly automated, but this role exists to keep everything tidy, reconciled, and followed through, so the wider business is well supported.
The role starts part-time, with clear potential to grow as the business and site continue to expand.
What you'll do
Review automated purchase and sales postings relating to the Ynyshir site
Maintain up-to-date bank and card reconciliations
Chase missing invoices, credits, and supplier statements linked to production and despatch
Contact suppliers, platforms, or software support to resolve queries
Prepare clean, organised information for VAT and month-end reporting
Respond promptly to finance-related requests from site teams
If something doesn't make sense, you're expected to investigate and resolve it rather than leave it outstanding.
How the role can grow
For the right person, the role may expand to cover:
Broader site-level reporting and controls
Increased involvement in month-end close
A larger role within the finance function as the business grows
Any growth in hours or scope would be driven by business need and demonstrated impact.
Working pattern
Min of 6 hours per week, ideally split across two on-site visits
Days and times can be agreed, but consistency matters
Long-term role with flexibility to increase hours over time
What we're looking for
A bookkeeping or accountancy qualification (AAT or similar)
Experience in a hands-on bookkeeping or finance support role
Comfortable working on-site
Confident communicating by phone and email, including chasing when needed
Organised, methodical, and reliable
Professional, practical, and solution-focused
What you can expect
A clearly scoped role within a wider operational business
Clear priorities and defined responsibilities
Straightforward communication and decision-making
Opportunity to grow the role over time, if that's of interest
Location
The site is in a location with limited public transport. Own transport is essential.
