SPEL Products have developed the modern complex of today which covers over a hectare with 7,500 m2 (61,500 sq ft) of production and office space. The facilities have been designed with an emphasis on efficiency in operation and a low carbon footprint (recycling solvents, low-cost lighting etc).

The modern processes including the patented chop-hoop filament winding process, 'state-of-the-art' computerised and robotic machines ensure consistently high product quality, and efficient production enabling quality products at competitive prices.

On site quality control to ISO 9001 is undertaken to constantly monitor and improve production performance. New product development is also undertaken on site, using our own test rig and laboratory facilities with independent test verification as required.

Job Summary:



SPEL Products is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented In-Process Quality Inspector to ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. As an In-Process Quality Inspector, you will play a critical role in identifying and addressing any deviations from specifications, preventing defects, and contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of our production. You will work closely with production teams, engineers, and other quality personnel to maintain a culture of quality excellence.

Responsibilities:



Conduct regular inspections of materials, components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods at various stages of the production process. Verify that products adhere to established quality standards, drawing standards, specifications, and work instructions. Utilise a variety of measuring instruments and techniques, including callipers, micrometres, gauges, and other specialised equipment, to assess dimensional accuracy, functionality, and appearance. Identify and document non-conformances, defects, and deviations from quality standards in a clear and concise manner. Segregate non-conforming materials and products and ensure proper handling and disposition. Communicate inspection results and quality issues to production supervisors, technicians, and quality inspectors in a timely and effective manner. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes to prevent recurrence of quality issues. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection/calibration records, logs, and reports. Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and work instructions. Ensure that all inspection activities are performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies. Collaborate with production teams to promote a proactive approach to quality and continuous improvement. May be required to perform final inspections and prepare documentation for product release. Maintain a clean and organised work area.

Qualifications:



Secondary school or equivalent; vocational training or certification in quality control or a related field is a plus. Proven experience (typically 1-3 years) in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of quality control principles and methodologies. Proficiency in using various measuring instruments and inspection tools. Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with production teams and other stakeholders. Problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and analyse quality issues. Basic computer literacy for data entry and record-keeping. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with ISO 9001.

Preferred Skills:



Experience with statistical process control (SPC). Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
