BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland's trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
The Northwest Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country. It covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling.
We have a vacancy for an Inspection Team Lead to join our existing operations team in the Northwest team, based out of our Office in Inverness. Our Road Asset Inspectors are responsible for recording defects that represent a hazard to the travelling public.
Role includes:
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures that form part of BEAR's Integrated Management Systems.
Manage the daily activities of the Inspectors and the operation in AMPS.
Ensure that inspections are carried out on time and in accordance with the inspection programme and the trunk road information manual.
Review the collected inspection data for accuracy completeness and compliance.
Report and liaison with the AMPS team to resolve problems and issues.
Assisting with responses to Hazard Notices and Observations Resulting from Inspections.
Other duties applicable to the post as directed from time to time by the Asset Manager.
Level of flexibility required to travelling required
On occasion, this role will include overnight stays
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
A full driving licence is essential
Previous experience of road maintenance(desirable) Training will be provided
Attention to detail
Good computer skills due to use of Transport Scotland's Asset Management Performance System.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel (desirable)
Ability to work effectively in a team
Ability to Solve problems
