Materion UK, manufactures high performance aluminum composites and alloys from the powder metallurgy facility in Farnborough UK. This is a strategic part of Materion' s advanced materials portfolio worldwide. Production at the Farnborough plant is expanding and we are seeking a new member of the team to support this activity.





Summary

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Inspection Technician will provide be responsible for completion of downstream processing, inspection and testing of manufactured materials. This role requires a broad range of practical hands-on skills to complete heat treatment and test activity combined with good skills to enable record keeping and certification of materials manufactured.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Inspection and Test

Density, Electrical Conductivity and Visual Inspection. Tensile testing. Dimensional Checks.
Downstream Product Processing

Heat Treatment Processes - internal and customer parts. Bandsaw operation for cutting billet materials. Packing and dispatch Dealing with couriers and transport vendors.
Test and Certification

Completion of key inspection records Completion of Product Certification Maintenance of key process control charts.
Additional activity depending on skills and experience

Metallographic analysis Ultrasonic test
Experience & Qualifications:

Technical Background And / or strong record of practical technical / engineering experience. Direct technical experience working in the metals or composites manufacturing preferred but not essential. Experience in Six Sigma practices Good interpersonal, written & ICT skills Strong internal and external communication skills. Attention to detail. Detail oriented, & self-motivated Ability to manage multiple tasks and to meet deadlines
