About the role





We're looking for an Installations Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Installations team, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of retrofit metering projects. The role focuses on driving performance, supporting operational targets, and promoting a strong safety culture across field activities. Working closely with the Operations Director, you'll contribute to strategic initiatives and benefit from a structured development plan to grow into broader leadership responsibilities.



You'll receive structured development in project and on-site construction management over a 6-12-month period, working closely with the Operations Director to support the Installations department and grow into a senior leadership role.




Key Responsibilities:




Field Operations & Team Leadership Oversee daily operations and administration of Installations engineers, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Monitor performance and work with the Field Operations Manager to deliver training and development plans. Build and maintain a positive working culture, addressing poor performance professionally. Introduce and manage KPIs to monitor engineer and business performance. Support recruitment for Operations field roles, working with internal talent acquisition. Provide guidance and support to staff across departments on field-related activities.



Site Management & Health and Safety:




Act as the single point of contact for all on-site works, representing the company at site meetings. Coordinate equipment and resource scheduling with client site teams. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and manage Health & Safety for staff and subcontractors. Support the Health & Safety Committee, promoting a positive safety culture across the business. Prepare and implement RAMS and deliver toolbox talks. Produce weekly progress reports and conduct observation checks on the team.



Technical Delivery & Retrofit Projects:




Educate client site teams on infrastructure requirements for successful service delivery. Stay up to date with legislation and best practices in heat network design and commissioning. Carry out Surveys and Site meetings and communicate clear project plans to key stakeholders. Manage change control processes and ensure client preparatory works meet standards. Project manage retrofit installations of metering systems in residential and commercial properties.



Subcontractor & Asset Management:




Oversee subcontractor activities, ensuring quality and compliance. Support H&S documentation and policy adherence. Manage physical stock and Insite assets, collaborating with Finance and Stock Administrator for reconciliations. Continually review and enhance stock management processes, including warehousing and systems.



Fleet & Logistics:




Manage the department vehicle fleet, ensuring compliance with parking and driving standards. Forward plan fleet replacement and evaluate cost benefits of greening the fleet.



Strategic & Financial Oversight:




Support the Operations Director in developing strategies to improve operational efficiency and profitability. Own the Installations P&L, ensuring financial accountability and achieving budget. Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.



Location and working hours:




Full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Primarily field based across Greater London Office location: Moorgate, London (WeWork) Occasional travel to Insite's offices for face to face meetings



Required skills and attributes:




Strong leadership qualities and people management skills. Excellent process management, time management, and deadline adherence. A commercial mindset with a focus on operational efficiency. Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft tools, and other core IT systems. Meticulous attention to detail and accurate written/verbal communication (English required). Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Experience in Client Relationship Management and stakeholder engagement. Confidence working with client stakeholders at all levels. Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.



Essential Experience & Skills




CSCS Card and SMSTS certification. IOSH Managing Safely certification. Experience leading a team of at least 5 direct reports and managing third-party suppliers.



Desirable




NICEIC accreditation. Knowledge of Heat Networks and metering systems. Familiarity with RF Surveys and commissioning processes.
