About the Role

As a Vocational Instructor, you will deliver high-quality, hands-on training to students aged 11-16, many of whom have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You'll work closely with teaching staff and support teams to create engaging sessions that help students build real-world skills and prepare for further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

You do not need to be a qualified teacher -- just someone with strong industry experience, practical knowledge, and a desire to support young people.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver practical vocational lessons in your area of specialism, along with functional skills.

Support the development of students' employability and life skills

Adapt content to suit different learning needs and styles Contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment Provide encouragement, structure, and routine for students with additional needs Work collaboratively with teaching staff and teaching assistants to support learning Promote positive behaviour and help students overcome barriers to engagement

What We're Looking For

A strong background in one of the following areas: Hair and Beauty Construction (including Carpentry, Plumbing or Multi-trade) Motor Mechanics Health and Social Care A recognised Level 3 qualification in Teaching & Learning or an equivalent qualification in your vocational subject area. A passion for working with young people, particularly those with additional needs Confidence in delivering practical sessions Good communication and teamworking skills A flexible, calm, and supportive approach A relevant vocational qualification or industry experience A teaching or assessor qualification (desirable but not essential - training provided)
