What you\'ll do

The Integration Domain Architect will work as a key member of the Vodafone UK IT Integration Domain, reporting to the Integration Domain Lead. He or she will prepare and own architectural blueprints and roadmaps for the Integration Platform, ensuring that there is a clear strategic direction set for all Domain platforms. The Domain Architect will be accountable for the quality of the Domain platforms, working with the Delivery and Operations team to ensure the Platform is always working efficiently and effectively The Integration Domain Architect will also prepare architectural overviews and high level designs and specifications for SOA Service and APIs to be hosted on the Domain platforms and will guide and review API and Service designs delivered by colleagues in 3rd party delivery teams.

The Integration Domain Architect is a trusted technical leader within the Domain and will be consulted regularly on Integration Platform tools and SOA and Integration best practice. You will be accountable for the quality of any technical activities in the Domain, ensuring design and development guidelines and software engineering standards are maintained at a high standard for general use. Together with other team colleagues, the Domain Architect will work to continuously improve quality, value and time to market for all Domain deliverables.

Main responsibilities:

  • Deliver Architectural Roadmaps and Blueprints for TIBCO and webMethods Integration platforms, ensuring a high standard of software delivery following SOA and integration architectural practices and preparing the platform for future requirements and strategic changes.
  • Collaborate with offshore and onshore colleagues to prepare effective SOA and Integration HLDs that deliver required functional and non-functional benefits required by IT projects and follow industry best practice to maintain the Integration Platform and IT architecture in good working order.
  • Take action to resolve technical issues and mitigate technical risks across the Domain technical portfolio
  • Be a credible technical authority for SOA and integration and API management architectural and other technical issues. Become thoroughly familiar with the business purpose of Services and APIs hosted on the Domain Platforms. Guide and collaborate with other engineers in the domain and advise external stakeholders on Integration issues and the use of Integration APIs and Services
  • Work collaboratively with the Domain Lead and other colleagues within the Domain helping to drive continuous improvement of all team practices.
Who you are

This role would best suit an individual with expertise as a software engineer and architect with a good understanding of SOA & Integration architecture and API design & management.
  • Practical experience as a successful software architect, preferably within a SOA and Integration or API management practice.
  • Experience of either TIBCO or webMethods middleware tools or alternative enterprise Integration platforms and development patterns
  • Ability to communicate effectively and with good authority within a large technical practice. Experience of working successfully with external delivery teams is highly desirable.
  • Technical understanding of SOA & Integration design and development and API management preferably on TIBCO or webMethods applications.
  • Good experience of software architecture, architectural patterns and effective delivery throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Good understanding of how to minimise technical risks in software architecture and design and how to design and plan successfully for both functional and non-functional requirements.
