Job Description

The Interlocutor is responsible for conducting the LanguageCert International ESOL (Speaking) examinations. They elicit the spoken performance of the candidate by asking questions or setting up speaking tasks using the scripted Interlocutor Framework set by LanguageCert. The Interlocutors do not mark or evaluate the performance of the candidate.

Your main responsibilities:



be fully familiar with the contents of the LanguageCert "Guide for Interlocutors"

facilitating the candidate's exam and managing the interaction throughout the exam

be completely familiar with the LanguageCert scripted Interlocutor Framework for each level of the International ESOL exams (Speaking) and deliver it as accurately as possible

help set up the examination room in accordance with LanguageCert regulations

adjusting own use of English and speed of delivery as is appropriate for the specified level of the exam

keeping to the prescribed timings for all parts of the exam

ensuring that all candidates are treated fairly and given an equal opportunity to speak

conducting the exam in accordance with LanguageCert regulations

ensuring mobile phones (including Smart Watches) are switched off during the speaking tests and placed out of reach of the candidate

ensuring the security of examination material at all times

ensuring proper function of audio recording equipment at all times

recording spoken examinations in digital format

ensuring the examinations are fully recorded live with the candidate in the same room

ensuring all necessary procedures are in place to prevent malpractice and/or maladministration during the examination

ensuring that all examination scripts are collected immediately after the examination and handed to the person responsible for dispatching them

Minimum required skills and qualifications:



fluent in spoken English

suitably qualified and experienced in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language

fully familiar with the 6 levels of the Common European Framework (CEFR)

able to adjust their language to reflect the 6 levels of the CEFR

highly skilled at eliciting

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 37.50 per week

Work Location: In person
