About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit to an Accountancy Support Officer to the schools' finance team. The Council is pursuing an exciting transformation agenda to better meet the needs and improve the lives of our residents, local businesses and visitors, so it is a great time to join the Council. This is an entry level job into the Corporate Finance department of the Council, so a good place to either start or further your career. The Council provide professional study support and encourage career development.
Candidates must have good communication skills, strong numerical reasoning ability and be confident users of Microsoft Excel. A can-do attitude, willing to learn and help and support where needed is a must.
There will be a test on the day of the interview using Microsoft Excel.
The role is based in County Hall, Llandrindod Wells however the Council predominantly operates through flexible working from a variety of locations including at home and at local offices which are near to where you live.
About you:
(1) Actively undertaking or prepared to undertake accounting technician or equivalent
qualifications.
(2) Numeracy to the level necessary to undertake calculations, analyse data and monitor budgets.
(3) Gained GSCE Mathematics at grade C or above.
(4) Literate with the ability to read and understand written procedures.
(5) Computer literate and keyboard skills. Experience with use of Excel is essential.
(6) Ability to analyse spreadsheets and data.
(7) Effective oral and written communication skills.
What you will do:
1) Undertake monthly planning routines to monitor service spend and analyse staffing data, to provide regular forecasts and assist budget planning.
(2) Process financial transactions, maintain accounts and respond to financial queries to ensure robust, timely and accurate financial information is provided to assist budget monitoring and inform the decision-making processes.
3) Run regular system reports and when necessary, interpret the need and design of reports to help undertake tasks such as analytical review, statutory returns, grant claims.
(4) Liaise with the auditors as necessary and provide relevant information to ensure they can complete audits quickly with all relevant paperwork.
(5) Complete regular reconciliations of financial codes, to ensure the Council's financial controls and systems are robust.
