This position is advertised internally for Powys County Council employees only
About the role:
To lead in the delivery of communications and engagement for the county council (for designated council services and/or integration) both internally and externally, through all engagement, marketing and communications channels (including digital) available to the Council.
About you:
1. To be a Communications and Engagement Officer with specialist skills in communications, marketing, consultation and PR and to lead and implement communications and engagement plans and strategy for the Council (for designated Council services and/or integration), in accordance with the Code of Recommended Practice on Local Authority Publicity Local Government Act 2000.
2. To engage with Corporate Directors - Cabinet members on a regular basis to develop and align messages for objectives in the Corporate and Strategic Equality Plan - Stronger Fairer Greener.
3. To be responsible for all digital media developments within the Council (for designated Council services and/or integration), including digital story-telling, for the purposes of communications and engagement.
4. To provide digital expertise and knowledge across the Council (for designated Council services and/or integration) and assist with training on digital communications including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc.
5. To work closely with partner organisations in the delivery of communications and engagement work.
What you will do:
To coordinate and manage all communications and engagement activity required for the Council (for designated council services and/or integration) and providing a full communications and engagement service including developing, implementing and monitoring communications and engagement plans and strategy.
To prepare materials and exhibitions for presentation at public engagement events, liaising with internal and external stakeholders at engagement events, to ensure delivery to deadline.
To prepare briefings and report findings for the management team, Cabinet and Council meetings as required.
