Position Description
A vacancy exists for the position of Inventory Controller, Carrington Power Station.
Carrington Power Station comprises a 2x440 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine's (CCGT's) and is located near Manchester.
The Inventory Controller will manage the stores in Carrington Power Station, manage some contracts and provide support to the Carrington team.
They will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage, develop and motivate team members. Have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this role include the following:

  • Ensuring security and control of physical inventory
  • Control and Maintenance of the computerised inventory records
  • Raising of replacement orders for stores items
  • Assisting maintenance staff with non-inventory orders
  • Receipt of goods delivered, performing checks to ensure conformity with order (quantities, technical specification, certifications, etc.)
  • Issue of inventory material for maintenance work
  • Perform regular inventory checks to ensure that physical holding is in agreement with computerised inventory management system
  • Liaise with external suppliers and vendors to ensure timely fulfilment of orders
  • Liaison with the site staff in respect of inventory requirements
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health and safety and environmental performance
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
  • Experience of using a computerised inventory management system, including receipt and issue of inventory items
  • Experience of supplier interaction including preparation and progression of orders to fulfilment
  • Good experience of general stores management to include storage methods, periodic inventory checking and reporting discrepancies to management
  • Ability to work independently within an established framework of control
  • Good IT skills
Desirable
  • An understanding of Power Generation or another process engineering industry
Qualifications
Essential
  • Minimum education level of 5 GCSE, or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • A good standard of written and spoken English is required.
Location
This position will be based in Carrington Station, near Manchester.
Reporting to
The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Manager, Carrington Power Station
