Day Rate \xe2\x80\x93 Circa \xc2\xa3700

Harvey Nash\xe2\x80\x99s client are currently looking to recruit an Investment Director to join their team based in Edinburgh for an initial 6 month period.

Role Purpose

The Interim Investment Director will support the Executive Director \xe2\x80\x93 Investments and be responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing successful investment transactions, across both debt and equity direct investments. The Interim Investment Director will also have considerable experience in managing multiple deals in a complex bespoke deal making environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as \xe2\x80\x98Deal Team Lead\xe2\x80\x99 leading the origination, structuring and completion of individual investments.
  • Negotiation and close of a pipeline of investment opportunities that support the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s purpose and missions.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues from across the Bank on all investment opportunities from inception.
  • In collaboration with the Investment Risk team and Partnership & Engagement team, identifying and quantifying both financial risks and social impacts, both positive and potentially negative, in all investment opportunities.
  • Undertake and manage the necessary due diligence, financial modelling, risk analysis and mitigation in the structuring of loans, equity investments or other deal structures.
  • Support the training and management of more junior team members in supporting the investment activity on individual investments.
  • With the support of internal and external counsel, ensure for all deals that appropriate legal documentation is successfully structured, negotiated and concluded in line with approvals.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the full investment approval process of the Bank, including responsibility for the preparation of all investment committee papers and reports.
  • Develop strong relationships with the wider financial ecosystem in Scotland, including banks and institutional investors.
  • Develop strong relationships with counterparties across multiple sectors in seeking to deliver investment opportunities in line with the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s missions.
Key skills and experiences
  • Degree qualified, in Business Administration, Finance, or related fields is preferred. Professional qualification (CA, CFA or similar) will be highly regarded.
  • Significant and relevant professional experience, ideally gained in Sustainable investment deals and/or SME investment experience.
  • Knowledge of the specific market factors in Scotland is desirable.
  • Experience in working within a development bank, or within the public sector would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in identifying social impacts and ESG reporting would be highly regarded.
