Our client in Newcastle is looking for a IT Engineer to join the team on a two year fixed term contract. As the IT engineer you will be responsible for managing IT operations across the West Europe region, supporting local business functions, coordinating with central IT teams, and managing external vendors to ensure secure, reliable, and high-quality IT service delivery in line with corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical contact for regional business users on IT-related matters
  • Deliver IT operations including user support, infrastructure, security, network management, procurement, and asset tracking
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to define system requirements and specifications
  • Manage second-level support operations across the region
  • Ensure uninterrupted IT service across all construction sites in the UK and Ireland
Core Competencies and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in IT roles with increasing responsibility
  • Minimum 3 years in system administration and IT support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Proven experience in IT service management and SLA monitoring
  • Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting abilities
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or MCSE are advantageous
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region
Performance Indicators
  • Accuracy of project timelines and cost control
  • System and service availability
  • Speed of ticket resolution
  • Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) following failures
  • SLA breach frequency
  • User satisfaction measured by Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Response time based on ticket severity
Technical Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Office 365 administration
  • Proficiency in managing users, groups, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP
  • Strong understanding of information security principles including access control, encryption, and patch management
  • Solid grasp of networking protocols and infrastructure: TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, firewalls, switches, wireless equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online: document libraries, lists, permissions, and external access
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services: Intune, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online
  • Ability to train and support users on systems and processes
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)
