Overall Purpose of the Job:
The overall purpose of the IT Support Technician role is to provide technical assistance and support to end-users within an organisation, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of IT systems and infrastructure. This includes diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, installing and configuring computer systems, and maintaining IT equipment. The role also involves supporting users both remotely and in person, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations while upholding data security and compliance standards. The IT Support Technician plays a key role in enhancing user experience, maintaining service levels, and contributing to the overall performance and reliability of the organisation's IT environment.

Key Activities and Accountabilities:
Skills and Knowledge
In-depth understanding of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and remote desktop tools
Basic knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routers, switches)
Understanding of cybersecurity threats and protection measures
Awareness of ITIL framework and service management processes (desirable)
Knowledge of data backup, restoration, and disaster recovery
Understanding of GDPR and data privacy regulations
Familiarity with antivirus, firewall, and endpoint security solutions
What do we need?
To be considered for this role, we would like you to have:
A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred but not always required).
Strong understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems.
Familiarity with computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP).
Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and remote support tools.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for both hardware and software issues.
Previous experience in a technical support or helpdesk role (often 1-2 years minimum).
Hands-on experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk).
