Job Summary



NWMS is a leading UK manufacturer of cold-formed steel and cable-containment systems.
We're looking for an experienced in-house IT engineer to own and support the technology that keeps our production and office operations running.
This role is ideal for someone who has worked inside a manufacturing or industrial business and prefers solving problems on the ground rather than working in an MSP help-desk queue.
You will report directly to the Engineering Director, giving you a clear line to decision-making and project planning.

Key Responsibilities



Provide on-site desktop and infrastructure support for Windows domain-joined devices across both office and shop-floor environments. Manage user accounts, groups, and permissions within Active Directory. Maintain and troubleshoot Hyper-V virtual servers and related infrastructure. Support and maintain desktop support tools, remote access, and patch management. Install, configure, and troubleshoot printers, industrial PCs, and CAT5/6 cabling. Assist with hardware/software rollouts, upgrades, and preventative maintenance. Document fixes, configurations, and procedures to support continuity and improvement.

Skills & Experience



Solid background in in-house IT support within a manufacturing or industrial setting. Strong knowledge of Windows desktop and server environments and domain management. Good working knowledge of Active Directory administration. Practical experience with Hyper-V and virtualisation. Familiarity with network cabling and basic switch/router configuration. Comfortable working safely on a busy shop floor as well as in an office.

Desirable



Experience with SCADA systems or integration with shop-floor data capture. Basic understanding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) networks or hardware. Exposure to ERP/MRP or production-line systems. Knowledge of continuous improvement / continuous development processes (Lean, Kaizen, etc.). Understanding of IT security best practices and backup strategies.

Details



Monday - Friday: 9am - 5pm with a degree of flexibility when required and needed.

30k-40k per annum depending on experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 30,000.00-40,000.00 per year
