This position combines practical, workshop-based technical work with broader IT support responsibilities -- maintaining systems, resolving hardware and software issues, and assisting with test and production setups.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our technical infrastructure runs smoothly, supporting both internal users and technical workflows. This role also offers clear scope to develop into a
Senior or Lead Technician
position over time.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot computer systems, servers, and hardware test equipment.
Install and configure operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and essential software.
Provide user support via help desk tickets, email, or phone -- ensuring prompt issue resolution.
Manage and support computer networking components including LAN, VPN, firewalls, and wireless connectivity.
Monitor and maintain system performance; identify and resolve issues proactively.
Perform physical hardware handling including drive installation, system builds, and disassembly.
Document incidents, resolutions, and technical procedures using ticketing tools such as
ServiceNow
,
Jira
, or
BMC Remedy
.
Support users with
Microsoft Office
and other key business applications.
Assist with future on-site installations and respond to customer technical queries as needed.
Contribute to workflow improvements, workshop organisation, and equipment maintenance.
Experience & Skills
Proven experience in
technical or desktop support
within a corporate or technical workshop environment.
Strong knowledge of
hardware troubleshooting and repair
, including servers, storage devices, and peripherals.
Confident installing and configuring operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
Understanding of
computer networking
(LAN, VPN, wireless, firewalls).
Proficiency with ticketing systems (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira, BMC Remedy).
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
High attention to detail, strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently, while collaborating effectively in a small team.
Soldering, cable-making, or electronics skills are a strong bonus but not required.
