Job Description

Role Purpose



To carry out high-quality joinery work with a specialist focus on the installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire doors and fire door sets. The role ensures compliance with all relevant fire safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and building standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Joinery



Carry out first and second-fix joinery tasks, including fitting frames, doors, skirting, architraves, and flooring. Manufacture and assemble bespoke joinery components where required. Work from technical drawings, plans, and specifications with precision. Ensure all work is completed to high craftsmanship standards and project deadlines.

Fire Door Installation & Maintenance



Install fire doors and door sets in line with manufacturer data sheets, certification requirements, and industry standards (e.g., BS 8214). Fit and adjust fire-rated hardware including hinges, closers, latches, locks, intumescent and smoke seals. Ensure all tolerances and installation parameters are correct (clearances, fixings, seals, thresholds). Carry out maintenance and repairs without compromising door certification.

Fire Door Inspection



Inspect fire doors for compliance, checking gaps, seals, hardware, leaf and frame condition, signage, and operation. Identify and record defects, providing recommendations for corrective action. Complete inspection reports accurately and maintain documentation for compliance.

Compliance & Safety



Work in accordance with Approved Document B, BS EN 1634-1, and third-party certification requirements (e.g., BM TRADA, IFC). Maintain high standards of health and safety and ensure fire compartmentation integrity is not compromised. Use only approved materials and hardware appropriate for fire-rated installations.

Skills & Competencies



Strong joinery skills with excellent attention to detail. In-depth knowledge of fire door systems, certification, and installation requirements. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fire door certification labels. Competent use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery. Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities. Good communication and time-management skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 15.00-17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week

Work Location: On the road
