Job Purpose



The

Joiner (Shopfitter)

is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of shopfitting elements, furniture, fixtures and fittings within retail and commercial environments.

The ideal candidate will possess high-level joinery skills, experience in multi-trade maintenance and have the ability to work flexibly across various locations.

Key Responsibilities



Including, but not limited to:

Perform shopfitting tasks including installation of bespoke joinery, fixtures and fittings. Conduct general maintenance work as required. Work in various environments such as airports, department stores, and retail units to complete fit-out and refurbishment projects. Read and interpret project drawings, plans and specifications to ensure precise implementation. Carry out repairs, modifications and alterations to existing installations and furniture, promoting sustainability. Operate their own/company tools and machinery safely and effectively, maintaining equipment in good working order. Adhere to health and safety regulations on-site, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols, including safe contractor practices. Liaise with site managers, clients and other contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standard. Provide regular updates to the Project Manager, highlighting progress and any issues encountered. Work efficiently within tight deadlines, ensuring minimal disruption to retail environments. Participate in training and development activities to maintain high standards of craftsmanship and knowledge of industry best practices.

Skills & Qualifications



Proven experience as a shopfitter, joiner, or multi-skilled maintenance operative. Skilled in joinery with additional expertise in one or more trades (electrical, plumbing, decorating, etc.). Strong understanding of construction and shopfitting processes, materials and tools. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans. Knowledge of health and safety practices, including risk assessments and working with hazardous materials. In date CSCS card is desirable (or working towards completion, can be obtained once in post). GCSE's/equivalent qualifications. Driving Licence (required due to nature of role/travel) Relevant NVQ /City & Guilds or equivalent qualifications in carpentry, joinery, or a related field. IPAF, PASMA, First Aid, SMSTS, SSSTS or Asbestos Awareness certification (desirable but not essential).

Ability to work flexibly across multiple locations, including travel to client sites across the UK with potential for overnight lay overs. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Team player with excellent communication skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Willingness to work outside normal hours as required by project demands. Willingness to travel to various locations across the UK. Ability to provide 5 years work history and clear DBS/CRB for accessing secure locations.

Have you ever worked on projects within airports, secure sites or live public environments? Due to the nature of our work & projects are highly varied and often fast-paced, requiring an adaptable and practical approach. While this role does not involve working away for long extended periods, you may be required to travel for short-term/overnight works at different UK airport and retail locations.
The role will also involve undertaking general maintenance tasks, temporary installation works, and site support as required.

Can you confirm that you are comfortable with a varied workload and able to adapt to different types of works, projects, locations, and working environments?

Are you able to work flexibly to work demands and reactive coverage? You are available to travel to locations across the UK inc. London and Scotland for overnight lay overs and night working requirement?
Education:

GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:

Joinery/Shopfitting : 3 years (required) Carpentry: 3 years (required)
