At Boxx Retail Joinery we specialise in manufacturing bespoke retail joinery for various commercial sectors across the UK.

Job role :

The Joinery Manager will oversee the design and execution of all shopfitting & joinery projects from concept through to completion. This role requires a strong background in joinery and manufacturing, project management and planning skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, and team members and ideally knowledge in CAD software

Key responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development



Lead, motivate, and develop the joinery team of 10-15 staff, including bench joiners, machinists and apprentices fostering a culture of performance and craftsmanship. Oversee recruitment, training, and mentoring to build a skilled and engaged workforce. Conduct regular performance reviews, absence management, and staff development plans to ensure operational excellence. Promote a positive, collaborative, and safe working environment that encourages innovation and pride in workmanship.

Operational & Production Management



Plan and manage daily joinery workshop operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Oversee the full production lifecycle, from design and material selection to manufacturing, finishing, and installation. Implement efficient workflows, scheduling, and resource allocation to optimise productivity and reduce downtime. Monitor stock control, materials procurement, and supplier performance to ensure cost-effective and timely availability of resources.

Design & Client Collaboration



Work closely with the design and commercial teams to translate client specifications into practical, cost-effective joinery solutions. Liaise directly with clients where required, providing technical advice, material recommendations, and design input to achieve the best outcomes. Ensure seamless communication between office, workshop, and site teams, maintaining clarity on project requirements and timelines.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement



Help maintain

quality control standards

, ensuring all joinery products meet exacting client requirements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production methods, reduce waste, and improve workshop efficiency. Keep up to date with modern joinery techniques, materials, and technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Health, Safety & Compliance



Help uphold and enforce Health & Safety standards across the workshop, ensuring full compliance with legal and industry regulations. Conduct regular risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety audits to create a safe working environment. Ensure all machinery is operated safely, maintained properly, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Budget & Cost Control



Manage joinery division budgets, monitoring costs and resource usage to maintain profitability. Assist with project costing, quotes, and forecasts to support commercial decision-making. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or client satisfaction.

Strategic Input & Growth



Contribute to the strategic growth of the joinery division, identifying new opportunities to expand capabilities and services. Support the development of new product offerings, improved production techniques, and streamlined processes. Act as a key member of the management team, advising on operational, technical, and commercial matters affecting the joinery function
Skills & Qualifications:

Strong project management skills and experience in coordinating with clients and suppliers. Knowledge of joinery and woodworking processes. Knowledge of joinery production and planning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality. Desirable experience in CAD design (AutoCAD, Inventor or solidWorks, etc.) and shopfitting.
Working Hours:

- Monday - Thursday: 07:30 - 16:30

- Friday: 07:30 - 16:00
