Junior IT Technician

What You'll Be Doing:




As a Junior IT Technician, you'll be an essential part of our IT support team, learning and growing as you assist with a variety of tasks. You'll work closely with our

IT Cluster Managers

and

IT Technicians

. Your main duties will include:

Responding to IT requests:

You'll help us respond to IT support requests, learning our procedures and working towards resolving issues efficiently.

Supporting IT operations:

You'll assist our IT Cluster Managers and IT Technicians with the installation, support, and maintenance of our IT hardware and services across all Academies Trust locations.

Helping with projects:

You'll have the chance to contribute to exciting IT projects by performing testing and helping us ensure new systems meet user needs.

Troubleshooting and repair:

You'll learn to assist with installing and repairing Windows computers and Chromebooks, helping to diagnose and solve common operational problems.

Network and desktop support:

You'll gain experience with a wide range of technical duties related to our computer network and desktop services.

Software and asset management:

You'll help us monitor software licenses and assist with tagging and tracking our IT equipment.

Team collaboration:

You'll provide cover within our cluster of sites when needed, ensuring continuous support for our academies.

What We're Looking For:




We're seeking a proactive and eager individual who is ready to learn and grow. While extensive experience isn't required, a keen interest in IT and a willingness to develop your skills are essential.

Ideally, you'll have:



A foundational understanding of IT:

You might have some basic knowledge of IT best practices, common software, and how computers and networks work.

An eagerness to learn:

You're keen to understand how IT services impact an organization and are ready to learn about supporting users with networking, printing, email, and various software.

Good communication skills:

You can communicate clearly and effectively, whether you're talking to staff or students.

A problem-solving mindset:

You're keen to analyse issues, learn how to make informed decisions, and take appropriate action.

A customer-focused approach:

You're patient and able to explain technical issues in a simple way to people who aren't familiar with IT. You're comfortable communicating with staff at all levels.

A positive and helpful attitude:

You're a team player, reliable, and willing to go the extra mile when needed.

Flexibility:

You're adaptable to changing situations and open to new approaches. Occasionally, you might be prepared to work unusual hours or travel to different sites within our cluster if operational needs require it.

As of 1st September 2024, our Trust comprises 33 geographically organised academies (17 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating more than 24,000 students and employing 4,000 talented staff. Currently, 16 of our academies are considered to be "Outstanding" which is 53% of those which have been inspected whilst part of the Trust. The Trust is establishing three 'clusters' of academies: LAT Central; LAT West; LAT North. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region's biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider.
