Role Overview



A Junior Mechanical Design Engineer is required to support the design, development, and delivery of mechanical systems within the renewable energy and environmental technology sector. The role offers exposure to the full product lifecycle--from concept design through to manufacturing and installation--while working closely with senior engineers and project managers.

Key Responsibilities:



Assist in the design and development of mechanical components for process equipment. Produce 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and documentation to support manufacturing and assembly. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, controls, and project engineers) to ensure integrated system design. Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in design processes and product performance. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements. Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.

Essential Skills & Experience:



2-5 years' mechanical design engineering experience in a relevant industry (energy, renewables, process equipment, or industrial machinery). Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent). Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and schematics. Knowledge of fabrication, welding, and sheet metal design is advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Desirable Skills:



Experience in environmental technology, renewable energy, or process equipment. Familiarity with pressure vessels, piping systems, and fluid mechanics. Exposure to project-based engineering and client-facing work. Understanding of sustainability and compliance frameworks in engineering.

Qualifications:



Degree (BEng/MEng) or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Professional registration (or working towards) with IMechE is a plus.
