The role is based on 40 hours per week working different shifts; Monday to Friday, We provide full on-the-job training, so while experience in logistics / freight is desirable, it's not essential.
Main Purpose of Job:
The main purpose of the Junior Operations Assistant role is to support the smooth and efficient
day-to-day functioning of the operations team and office, ensuring that administrative tasks,
communication, and logistical processes are carried out accurately and on time.
This trainee position is designed for someone with a proactive mindset who is eager learn and
develop within the company.
Main Responsibilities:
The Junior Operations Assistant will be trained across a range of day-to-day Operation-related
tasks, including but not limited to:
Perform general office tasks (i.e., photocopying, filing, data entry and invoicing).
Screen calls and take detailed & accurate messages as necessary.
Manage and distribute incoming and outgoing post and couriers.
Assist with email correspondence as required.
Support the operations team as necessary (i.e., communicating collection & delivery
instructions to drivers and monitoring the progress of the day's work using in-house
system).
Monitor and update our freight management system as required.
Adhere to the company's security procedures at all times.
Support colleagues/management to ensure client needs are met.
Ensure any issues are reported to your Manager.
Undertake additional duties, or assist other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested by your Manager or the Directors.
Skills:
The ability to prioritise and organise own workload to tight deadlines.
Strong Communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both written and verbal.
Be a team player, with the ability to work as a member of the Operations team as well as alongside members of staff within other teams, as required.
Knowledge:
Data management, keep accurate records for the department.
Intermediate knowledge of IT - MS Word & Excel.
Be a team player in the department and with members of staff from all other
departments.

You will have a proactive approach and anticipates needs and changes and always looking for ways to improve
Compliance is important so you will need to be someone who follows company policies and process
Desirable:
Hold a full UK driving licence
Experience of working in logistics / freight industry
Experience with tracking system
