Job Title: Junior Solutions Engineer

Location: Peterborough office / Hybrid option (2-3 office based)

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Solutions Engineer to join our team of systems architects within AB Agri, the agriculture and animal feeds division of the Associated British Foods group of companies.

You will be responsible for designing IT solutions, infrastructure and integration of applications within an experienced team and a wider IT department. Working with colleagues from the commercial businesses and IS experts to clearly articulate and promote good systems design, and translating the design into action.

AB Agri has adopted a Cloud First approach based on the Microsoft Azure platform (for which training and certification will be provided), and will be migrating systems and users on a large scale in the coming years. This role will be play a strong part in that transformation.

What you\'ll be doing:

• You will work within the GTS Architecture team to manage a portfolio of change requests, systematically design solutions using cloud technologies (principally based on Microsoft Azure) and lead product selections, learning to use structured methods for evaluating vendor offerings and identifying key technology differences between them.
• You will learn best practise deployment techniques and take the lead on rolling out solutions in conjunction with and eventually handing over to the Operations team.
• You will apply the principles of a structured approach to solution architecture using BCS guidelines, and apply those to problems raised by the business and identify the right mixture of COTS or custom built solutions.
• You will be responsible, with other team members, in the ongoing cost-effectiveness of our platforms and identification of cost-saving measures, and designing for security.
• Working alongside the architecture team the engineer will do detailed design on implementation, research and prototype the correct cloud and on-prem technologies and assist the IT Operations team in the deployment and configuration of new solutions.

What you\'ll bring:

• Knowledge (or will gain knowledge) of our current systems & solutions; as well as being keeping up to date with new technological developments outside of the business.

• An inquisitive approach to investigation of new technologies, evaluation of their impact on the solution landscape, and the confidence to recommend new products and features of existing products.

• Strong hands-on implementation or configuration skills in contemporary technologies and operating systems and be comfortable carrying out hands-on tasks as directed.
• An understanding of what areas of a system impact end-user performance and be able to quickly identify likely performance bottlenecks, and guide the Operations team in identifying root causes of operational issues.
